Officials in Singapore say people xo who received the Sinovac vaccine are excluded from the city-state’s count of total vaccinations.
This is due to "inadequate" efficacy data for the vaccine, Reuters news agency reports.
“We don’t really have a medical or scientific basis or have data now to establish how effective Sinovac is in terms of infection and severe illnesses on Delta [variant],” health minister Ong Ye says.
More than 3.7 million people in Singapore have received at least one dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines.
Singapore has allowed private clinics to use the Sinovac vaccines with more than 17,000 people receiving one dose by 3 July. Sinovac has been approved for emergency use by the World Health Organisation.
Those in Singapore who have received a Sinovac jab will still need to be tested for the virus before attending certain events or entering some venues.
