What are the 'modifications' to level zero?

Hospitality venues in level zero will have to close at midnight.

In public places, 1m physical distancing will remain for people from different households.

The requirement to distance for groups of family and friends meeting in private houses or gardens has already been removed.

Outdoors there will still be a limit on the size of group gatherings. This will be up to 15 people from up to 15 households.

There will be no requirement to distance within these groups of 15. However, for the next three weeks at least, there will be a requirement for 1m distancing between different groups of 15.

Finally, the gradual return to the office will not begin until at least 9 August.

Nightclubs and adult entertainment venues remain closed at level zero.

What other changes have been announced?

The first minister said the mandatory wearing of face coverings will remain in place "for some time to come".

She also announced an intention to end the blanket requirement for close contacts to self isolate.

Ms Sturgeon also announced that an education advisory group would look at whether they could remove the need to self isolate for young people in schools who are close contacts of positive cases.

Self-isolation is no longer required for people arriving from countries on the amber list, provided they are fully vaccinated through a UK vaccination programme and take a PCR test on the second day after arrival.
