POWERPLANT & JUICING
The “Powerplant” can be ingested in so many different ways. The benefits of cannabis are usually absorbed by smoking or eating. Today we are going to explore the reasons that some are beginning to juice and drink raw cannabis.
Juicing is a new health trend that involves extracting the liquid from fresh fruits and vegetables. This juice contains most of the vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients of these plants. A vegetable can be defined as any herb that at least one part is used for food. Under this definition cannabis can be classified as a vegetable – and therefore can be juiced. Marijuana even has many of the same nutrients as other leafy greens – including Fiber, Iron, and Calcium. Cannabis is an acidic food helping the body maintain a healthy alkaline balance. Juicing requires raw, properly grown, and freshly picked plants. There can be no pesticides or contaminants – making organically grown a better choice. Raw buds are harvested when the THC glands are clear (before they turn amber). For one session it is recommended to use 15 fresh leaves and 2 large raw buds. It is recommended to mix other fruits and/or vegetables with the liquid to minimize the acidic taste. A popular choice is carrot juice but many other vegetables go well with cannabis.
Juicing and eating cannabis can be referred to as “Whole Plant Therapy”. It is said that you are actually walking away from 99% of the benefits cannabis provides when you cook or smoke it. Although juicing marijuana won’t produce any psychoactive high it does have potent healing properties. The cannabis and hemp plant naturally has a perfect balance of fatty acids, which can contribute to improved cell function. Juicing allows you to avoid the negative effects of smoking. Juicing also provides an alternative to the sugary snacks that line the shelves of dispensaries. This is why it is such a good ingestion method for medical patients. When you juice fresh cannabis you are tapping in to the high concentration of raw cannabinoid acids within the herb.
Cannabinoid acids are shown to alleviate many symptoms and promote health. However when we add heat (through smoking or cooking) the raw cannabinoid acids are converted into cannabinoids. Both have potent healing potential but in different ways. It’s been proven that CBDa (acidic form) can inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells. It is also an effective antibacterial, anti-emetic and anti-inflammatory agent. “Canna-juice” contains THCa, which is non-psychoactive but still stimulates the digestion system like it’s nonacidic counterpart. It can aid with sleep disorders and provides powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
As humans we naturally have an Endocannabinoid system that creates cannabinoids within ourselves. These bind to different receptors and assist in regulating immune functions, nerve functions, and bone functions. The Endocannabinoid system helps to maintain a harmonious balance in our bodies. Cannabis juice is the quickest and most effective way of ingesting as many cannabinoids as possible. That is why this non-psychoactive liquid is being heralded as a new dietary supplement. Without having to worry about experiencing a psychoactive high the patient is able to consume as much plant material as desired for health benefits. Unheated marijuana can be consumed in quantities as high as six hundred milligrams.
This increases the anti-oxidant and neuroprotective properties that activate once you begin to consume hundreds of milligrams of THCa, CBDa, and CBGa. Although traditional medical marijuana treatments are extremely effective in helping patients, using raw cannabis as a dietary supplement can produce unique benefits. There is no concrete evidence but several people have claimed that cannabis juice can help treat autoimmune diseases and reduce the size of tumors. For these reasons it is important that scientists continue to study the benefits of this powerful liquid.
It is easy to imagine all of the entrepreneurial opportunities and potential. Once legalization is in full effect it may be possible to see Cannabis Juice Bars and edible companies producing whole plant concoctions. In the future, you may be able to purchase these juices in your local dispensary.
So, grab a blender and a few fresh leaves of your favourite cannabis strand. Juice the stocks and add in some other fruits and vegetables to the mix. Take a sip and feel the benefits of raw acidic cannabinoids entering your body. Let the Plant Power your Body and Mind.
